When new games are announced, we always ask ourselves if they will work on our computers. Looking over a game's system requirements is the fastest way of answering this question, but the specifications on the game's box may not be accurate. If you need hard facts about your computer's performance in relation to a game, AllBenchmark Catzilla can help you. Unlike other benchmarking programs, AllBenchmark Catzilla can tell you if a specific game will run on your computer and how well. After performing various tests on your software and hardware, the software will assign an overall score to your system, as well as a certified badge.

The software is free, but it is also available in Basic, Advanced and Professional versions, which come with different capabilities and price tags. AllBenchmark Catzilla's setup file is roughly 500 MB, so it may take several minutes to download and install the program. Although you don't need to meet any special requirements to run the program, you may need to update your display drives in order to use it.

The user interface is divided into several sections, in which you can prepare and execute tests, view the results and check a series of recommendations. You can choose one of four testing profiles, for various machines, from simple notebooks or ultrabooks to high end gaming rigs. Alternatively, you may customize your own profile. The software allows you to include or exclude specific tests, at different resolutions, quality levels and other specifications.

While benchmarking a computer, the program will play a series of 3D animations in full screen mode, to test the maximum frame rate. Each test consists of a different animation, to see how well the CPU and GPU can handle Physics, fur or fluid animations and so on. When the tests are complete, you can check the results page to see your system's overall score and rating. Comparing a computer to an animal, based on its performance, is not a new concept. You may have heard a powerful computer being compared to a vicious tiger. This is how AllBenchmark Catzilla rates a computer. Based on the final score, your computer may receive a kitty badge, a cat badge, a tiger or a catzilla badge.

The program comes with a large database of minimum requirements for various games. Instead of displaying processors, graphics cards and other components as requirements, AllBenchmark Catzilla displays the minimum rating badge that is needed to play a certain game. This makes it much easier to figure out if a computer is powerful enough to play a game. For example, if your computer has a cat badge, you can play games with kitty badges without any problems, but you won't be able to play games with tiger badges.

Pros

AllBenchmark Catzilla can perform various tests, to see how your hardware handles Physics, fluid, fur or other animations. It has its own ratings system for a computer's performance and a game's requirements, which makes it much easier to figure out if a computer can run certain games.

Cons

The free version is quite limited when compared to the other versions. AllBenchmark Catzilla provides you with clear and easy to understand information about your computer's performance, in relation to a game's requirements, so you can be certain if the game you want to buy will run on your computer or you have to upgrade your hardware.
